I have achieved a Martindale-Hubbell “AV” rating.

Well Happy New Year.

On January 1st, 2013, I received an email advising me that Martindale-Hubbell had awarded me the distinguished AV® attorney rating, the highest such rating available to any individual lawyer.  The Law Offices of A Peter Rausch, Jr., is now an AV® rated firm, as law firms are given the rating of the highest rated individual attorney.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings system is a 140 year old legal profession standard and the rating is based on the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and the Judiciary.  Martindale-Hubbell representatives conduct personal interviews to discuss lawyers under review with other members of the Bar and solicit ratings feedback by confidential questionnaires sent to lawyers and judges in the same geographic location or area of practice as the lawyer being rated. Members of the Bar are asked to assess their colleague’s legal ability and general ethical standards.

A Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating assesses both (i) Legal Ability, by taking into consideration the standard of professional ability in the area where the lawyer practices, the lawyer’s expertise, and other professional qualifications, and (ii) General Ethical Standards, which evaluates adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, reliability, diligence and other criteria relevant to the discharge of professional responsibilities.

An “AV” ratings mean the lawyer has been rated as having “Preeminent” Legal Ability, and “Very High” ethical standards.  It is the highest possible rating.

Not a bad way to start the new year.  Which, by the way, also marks (January 25th 2013) my twenty year anniversary as a sole practitioner.  Seems like yesterday I quit my job and hung a shingle, in an experiment that seems to be going fairly well, for now.

Thanks to an amazing collection of clients with interesting and challenging cases, and a wonderful group of friends and colleagues my job the most fun and rewarding thing I can image to be doing.
